How do  I schedule an appointment?

It is important that you feel comfortable with a therapist in order for the sessions to be most effective. If you would like to arrange an initial 15 minute phone consultation (at no charge), we can discuss briefly what you hope to get out of therapy and determine whether or not I would be a good fit. 

How often will we meet?

In general, I work within a once-per-week treatment model. Weekly therapy provides the continuity that allows us to form a strong working alliance, for you to feel supported between sessions, and for us to partner actively towards your goals.  However, there may be times when meeting twice a week or once every other week is appropriate.  The frequency of sessions may change during the course of treatment, depending on your needs.

I understand that life can get hectic! Although it’s best to schedule a regular set time, I can sometimes accommodate such needs so long as we can find alternative times. I also offer phone or on-line counseling sessions, if indicated, and appropriate to your needs. 

How long are sessions?

Initial assessment sessions are 60 minutes. Ongoing counseling sessions are typically 45 minutes.

Princeton University Exclusive Provider Network (EPN)

I am a member of the Princeton University Exclusive Provider Network. If you have Princeton University Student Health Insurance your sessions are covered under this plan and you are only responsible for your $20 copay.

For all other insurance plans other than Princeton University Student Health Insurance, my office would be considered out-of-network. Please see below for an explanation of out-of-network coverage.
To find out the details of your coverage, please call your insurance company before your first appointment and ask about your out of network mental health benefits. Some things you'll want to ask : 

  • Do I have mental health benefits?
  • Do I have a deductible and has it been met for the year?
  • How much does my plan reimburse per session for an out-of-network provider?
  • How many sessions per year does my plan cover?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
  • Are phone and online counseling sessions reimbursable?

As an out-of-network provider, you are responsible for the full fee at the time of your appointment. I can provide you with statements to submit  to your insurance company, or as a courtesy I can submit the claim on your behalf. The reimbursement percentage rate is dependent on your insurance plan.
